I'm pretty fiscally conservative, but as long as we are thinking we're going to hand out $700B, I have an idea. There are 100M households in the US. Why don't we just give everyone $7,000. I have a feeling that would put the economy back on track - it would certainly save a few mortgages.
I know, I know, it isn't a handout...
YES!! I think this is a better solution! But, it would still in my opinion, reinforce some bad behavior. I know some people are losing their homes because or medical bills or they lost their job, I would love to see them get this money. But some people are losing their homes because they choose to live outside their means. I don't like the idea of them not learning their lesson! But I still think it is a better idea then handing it over to the companies who were stupid enough to give the risky loans!
ReplyDeleteAlways interesting to get your perspective.

Seriously. This is like 200 board games at least. Think of it!!!
ReplyDeleteI jest of course about sending people money for kicks. If you heard on NPR how people apparently spent their stimulus package last year, I don't think they need another $7,000. I'm not going to provide such links on my blog - you'll have to google it. Suffice it to say that they confirmed the name "Economic Stimulus Package". People are sick...
